Think-Top Educational Institute SEA & CSEC Preparation | Reading Intervention | Academic Support Trinidad & Tobago
Online and Face-to-Face Instruction
WHY THINK-TOP EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE EXISTS
Too many children in Trinidad and Tobago are moving through school without the foundations they need. Too many parents don't find out until it's almost too late.
Think-Top Educational Institute exists because of that gap. Founded in St. Augustine, Trinidad in 2011 by UWI-trained educator and Ministry of Education teacher Krys-Darcelle Dumas, Think-Top was built on one principle: every child can learn when instruction begins where they actually are, not where a syllabus assumes they should be.
We are not a drop-in lesson centre. We are not a homework help service. Think-Top Educational Institute is a structured academic institute offering SEA preparation, CSEC preparation, reading intervention, diagnostic assessments, and academic consultation for students and families across Trinidad, Tobago, and the wider Caribbean.
EDUCATION IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PARENTS
We believe that good education in Trinidad requires genuine partnership between educators and parents.
A child cannot be supported in isolation. The work that happens at Think-Top Educational Institute is most effective when parents understand what is being taught, why it is being taught that way, and what they can reinforce at home.
Every programme at Think-Top includes clear, honest communication with parents. We share what assessments find. We report progress accurately. We tell you what is working and what needs to change.
We are also honest about what structured academic support requires. Good education takes time, consistency, and investment. We do not promise overnight results. We promise a clear plan, honest feedback, and instruction matched to your child's actual needs.

How are classes delivered?
Think-Top Tutors delivers classes through both online and in-person formats, depending on the programme and subject. Classes are intentionally kept small to allow for observation, interaction, and individual feedback. Feedback is provided on an ongoing basis through classwork, assignments, and direct communication when intervention or adjustment is needed.
Online Classes
Online classes are delivered using:
-
Google Meet for live, interactive lessons
-
Google Classroom for materials, assignments, feedback, and progress tracking
This allows students to:
-
Attend lessons from anywhere in Trinidad and Tobago
-
Access notes and assignments in one organised space
-
Receive written feedback and follow-up support
Online delivery is used for most SEA and CSEC academic classes.
In-Person Classes and Clinics
Think-Top Tutors also offers in-person classes and clinics at our physical classroom space.
In-person sessions are primarily used for:
-
Reading classes
-
Reading diagnostics
-
Reading intervention clinics
-
Small targeted academic clinics where close observation is required
These sessions allow for:
-
Direct assessment of reading, decoding, and fluency
-
Immediate corrective feedback
-
Structured, hands-on instruction in a small setting
What is the difference between Reading Classes and the Reading Clinic?
Reading Classes
Reading classes provide ongoing support to build:
-
Phonics and decoding skills
-
Reading fluency
-
Vocabulary development
-
Comprehension strategies
These are suitable for students who need consistent literacy support over time.

Reading Clinics
The Reading Clinic is a short-term, intensive intervention programme that begins with a diagnostic assessment and targets specific reading gaps. Clinics are structured, time-bound, and highly focused.
How are students placed into classes or clinics?
Student placement at Think-Top Tutors is intentional and needs-based, not automatic.
Placement is determined using:
-
Diagnostic assessments, particularly for reading and literacy support
-
Observed skill gaps identified during assessment or early instruction
-
Age and academic level
-
Programme goals discussed with parents
This process ensures students receive appropriate, targeted support, rather than a one-size-fits-all placement.
Why this structure matters
Using both online and in-person delivery, as well as differentiated programmes, allows Think-Top Educational Institute to:
-
Match the teaching method to the student’s learning need
-
Provide flexibility for families
-
Maintain high instructional standards
-
Deliver targeted literacy intervention where it is most effective
OUR VISION
Think-Top Educational Institute is not built around passing exams.
Exams are a measure. They are not the goal.
The goal is a child who can read with understanding, think critically, reason through a problem, and communicate with confidence. A child who is not dependent on a teacher to tell them what to think. A child who is capable.
Think-Top Educational Institute is expanding because the work is not finished. Research, publications, and resources for Caribbean educators and families are part of what is coming.
Our high standards are part of who and what we are. They are not negotiable.
Important note for parents
Think-Top Educational Institute and Think-Top Tutors work together to serve your child. The Institute oversees all programmes, assessments, consultations, and resources. Think-Top Tutors delivers the classes.
Not every programme is available in every format. Online and face-to-face delivery are not interchangeable. Placement is determined by assessment, not by preference or convenience. We will always tell you honestly what your child needs and which programme, if any, is the right fit.
Enrolment is not automatic. Every student who joins a Think-Top programme begins with either a diagnostic assessment or a consultation. This is not a formality. It is how we ensure that every child placed in a class is placed correctly.
Parents are part of this process. We will share what we find, explain what it means, and work with you on next steps. What we ask in return is consistency, follow-through at home, and honest communication when something is not working.
If you are ready to begin, the first step is a conversation.
