I started teaching on the recommendation of a friend of mine in 2011. Walking into my first classroom, realizing my nervousness and being a little intimidated by my students, most of whom were older than me, allowed me to approach the experience of teaching cautiously. The observation I had to have of every student, so that we could all excel in that space, paid off. It made me aware of the individuality of each student, their personalities, learning styles, needs and personal goals. I have kept this approach to educating.

Over the next few years I became more and more passionate about meeting my students at the points at which they come to me. I recognize each as an individual and realize that even though they may be all aiming to pass the same standard exams, each one had a personal goal that helped to drive their efforts in the class, whether or not they were aware of it. I can only lead a student as far as they are willing to go themselves.

Students who work, complete assignments and put the effort into reaching their goals are always surprised at their ability. I ensure that classes are enjoyable and explore topics that are interesting to the student as much as possible so they stay engaged. The challenges are set to inspire them and to improve on the skills that they already have. I live for the "ah ha" moment in my students when they realize their true potential, grasp the concept and all the pieces fit together. I live for the moment when they begin to see the possibility in the peak of their goal. I live for their successes.
